Investment casting - lost wax casting in industrial application

Investment casting, also called lost-wax casting is an industrial process used a lot in the production of the 
metal components for the machines or equipments. Sizes from 0.01 kg to more than 100 kg all can be 
developed per drawings or samples. Materials like carbon steel, stainless steel, alloy steel, etc.





Advantages of investment castings:  

  • Many intricate forms with undercuts can be cast.
  • A very smooth surface is obtained with no parting line.
  • Dimensional accuracy is good.
  • Certain unmachinable parts can be cast to preplanned shape.
  • It may be used to replace die-casting where short runs are involved.
  • No draft angle is required

More and more parts are chosen to be made in investment casting process due to the above advnatages.
